meet our leadership team

Chelsea, Executive Director

Chelsea has been dancing with Folklorico Filipino Canada since 2004. She was a principal dancer from 2016 to 2019. She has participated in national dance exchanges and two international tours. 


Favourite FFC memory: Whale watching as a group in Alaska! 

Candace, Production Lead

Candace has been performing with Folklorico Filipino Canada since 2006, and participated in international tours to the Czech Republic, Alaska and Mexico. Outside of Folklorico, Candace is  a professional dance artist. She enjoys creating contemporary works and using Philippine folk dance as the language of storytelling. 


Fun fact: Her favourite dance is Pangalay! 

Chloe, Operations Lead

Chloe has been dancing and performing Philippine folk dance since 2006. Her love and passion for the culture and the art form is what motivated her academic pursuits and her research on the Filipinx identity. 


Fun fact: Her favourite dance is Salip/Salidsid!

Gee Soropia, Musical Lead

Shannon, Operations Coordinator

Shannon (she/her) has been dancing with Folklorico Filipino Canada since 2024. She was exposed to Filipino folk dance as a young child when her mother’s coworkers taught her to perform in their annual Philippine Independence Day celebration. Now, Shannon continues to live out her passion in learning different dance styles from the homeland as well as their origins.

Marielle, Marketing and Communications Lead

Marielle joined Folklorico Filipino Canada in 2023 as a way to connect with her roots. She is inspired and fascinated by the concept of passing on cultural traditions and stories through folk dance. 

Jose Cacho-Lim, Bookkeeper

I've been FFC's bookkeeper since 2024.  Professionally,  I have 14 years experience as a corporate accountant, but recently made the jump to a fulfilling position in the non-profit sector.


Fun fact: My husband, Jeremy, and I are godparents for one of our nephews who is as old as Jeremy and I have been together.
